Once upon a time, not too long ago, fresh glacial meltwater flowing down from Kaskawulsh Glacier through Slims River filled the lakebed either side of this road, and that lake was known as Kluane Lake.
Now, the glacier has retreated to such an extent that its meltwater now flows the opposite direction, drying up the Slims river and Kluane Lake, leaving behind an arid dustbowl reminiscent of a scene from Nevada's Death Valley.
Photographed in Yukon Territory in May 2017.
